Woman with Yellow Hair presents Marie-Thérèse Walter in a sweeping curvilinear language of rounded forms, ornamental pattern, and saturated color. Her blond hair and repose become the subject of a biomorphic visual rhythm rather than a conventional likeness, giving the painting an intimate but deliberately poetic presence.
Guggenheim dates the work precisely to Paris, 27 December 1931, and identifies it as a Thannhauser Collection gift of Justin K. Thannhauser in 1978. Its collection text places the painting within Picasso’s early 1930s imagery of Marie-Thérèse Walter, where her profile and sleeping figure became recurring motifs. This correction removes unsupported location detail and replaces a public-domain image claim with rights-aware source handling.
